Work in progress (from a couple of weeks ago). This design was created for the International Board of Books – IBBY Australia’s Perth quiz night.
IBBY Australia allowed me to select a theme, so I chose a balloon house because – well – balloon houses are awesome…
The illustration was created with ink overlaid by watercolour.
See the finished version here.
A fun design created for the International Board of Books IBBY Australia Perth’s branch’s quiz night.
I was given complete freedom in designing this poster. That in mind I selected to illustrate a balloon house (yes, my dream home if I can’t have a treehouse). The painting was created in watercolour and ink.
The original painting will be up for silent auction on the night so if you’re nearby make sure to book a table and bid. Proceeds go to IBBY Australia.
Finishing off an illustration for The School Magazine.
Watercolour and pencil.
After a relaxing holiday in Sydney and the Blue Mountains I’m back in the studio refreshed and prepped for a creative 2018.
Kicking off the year with illustrations for The School Magazine.
Faber Castell pencil on Arches Hot Pressed.
Spent a relaxing two weeks in Newtown (Sydney) over New Year.
In between beach visits and cafes I took time out to sketch on the streets.
Have a safe and happy Christmas.
Whale song was painted for a children’s magazine. I’m lucky enough to live near to where these ocean giants swim.
Treehouses are awesome, right? I absolutely love drawing them. They’re something I’ll randomly created while lounging in a cafe over a long macchiato or in a bar with a glass of Merlot.
A few days ago I decided to record the process and share it. Enjoy.
This painting took so many layers of paint, unexpected alterations and random experimentation to get it right.
Still in love with the result.
Ever had an inkling to draw a balloon house? Okay, that’s a relatively specific interest, right? However, I happen to enjoy creating these fantasy homes and decided to share my procedure in creating a simple one. Enjoy.
